The new season of House begins when House and Cuddy proclaimed their love for one another, and proceed to then explore their new relationship in his apartment. When the only remaining neurosurgeon of Princeton level 1 Trauma Center calls ill, the team try to figure out what he has come down with, and in the meantime, wonder where House is.

Fast forward to the latest episode, Family Practice. Cuddy’s mother complains about her usual symptoms, and she is admitted into Princeton. Arlene insists that she does not want to be treated by House, and thus he is forced into coming up with an illegal and unconventional way of treating her. After getting his team to follow his lead, some things about Arlene’s personal life are uncovered, which she had kept from Cuddy and her sister. Rachel, Taub’s ex wife, gets him in contact with her brother, who eventually hires Taub to work for some desperately needed income. However it takes a toll on him, emotionally and mentally. Cuddy trusts House to treat her mother. It involves a medical student, Masters, to reevaluate her code of ethics and decide whether to follow her responsibility towards her boss. Being a ‘by the book’ student, she has to reconsider her priorities and make a decision.

The guys try to bounce a laser back to Earth from the moon, and Leonard tries to get Penny to join in, only to find out she has company. They observe the experiment, but it only proves her date to be extremely dense. Penny gets drunk and sleeps with Leonard, only to realize it was a mistake. Leonard approaches Leslie Winkle for sex, but is rejected and visits Penny, who turns him down as well.

Raj and Howard submit a dating site profile for Sheldon, which gives a match. He refuses to meet the woman, and the guys hide a dirty sock in his room and they meet their match. She is exactly like Sheldon!

Sheldon and Leonard fight over the thermostat setting, and goes to Penny for comfort. He tells Penny about what Sheldon is like, and his idiosyncrasies. Leonard is allowed to enter his room after answering science fiction trivia, and interviews him. Sheldon had kept Leonard from revealing a top secret rocket fuel to a North Korean spy, and saved his life.

Dr Elizabeth Plimpton arrives at Cal Tech for an interview, and Sheldon takes responsibility in her transport and accomodation arrangements. He lets her stay in his bed, and Leonard tries to get her to talk about her work. However, she is interested in having sex with him, something he is welcome to. Penny notices their body language, and becomes jealous. Later on, Dr Plimpton meets Raj and wants to have sex with him too. When Howard and Leonard come to Raj’s apartment, she suggests doing it with all 3 guys, but Raj locks them out.

Leonard and Penny broke up, and Sheldon invites himself to visit her for hot dogs and spaghetti. Howard explains that friends of the couple have to pick sides, and eats with the guys first while keeping his dinner plans with her a secret. Sheldon confesses his friendship with Leonard after an encounter with a hound and dinner with Penny, who takes it in his stride.

After having sex, Leonard tells Penny ‘I Love You’ but she can only respond ‘Thank You’, causing them both to rethink their relationship. During a bowling match, Penny says she loves chilli cheese fries, which makes Leonard angry as she cannot use that word for her feelings for him. Penny walks out when they have a fight, and the guys have to forfeit the game. Sheldon gets them to patch up, and in a rematch, Wil tells Penny that he has had a girlfriend who could not tell him that she loves him for two years. The game is over when Penny gets worried she will never be able to tell Leonard she loves him, and they forfeit the game again. Wheaton admits that he had intentionally broke the couple up, so that they would forfeit.

Sheldon has a fear of public speaking, and his friends come to help out when he risks a chance to get an award. Leonard helps him psychologically, Penny shops for a suit, and Raj provides ‘Indian meditation crap’. Sheldon feels faint when it’s speech time, thus Penny gives him alcohol, which causes him to behave like a stage comedian. It ends up on YouTube with the title ‘Physicist Melts Down’

The guys come home with goodies from a garage sale; TV and movie collectables and a prop ‘One Ring’. It is actually a high collection value prop made for The Lord of The Rings film, and they quarrel over who gets to keep it. Leonard gives it to Penny for safekeeping, and Sheldon sneaks into her room and tries to steal the ring around her neck. The punches Sheldon in the face when she wakes up. The next day, Howard, Raj, Leonard and Sheldon grab it, and decide that the one who has the last hold on it, gets the ring. Penny shows Leonard some lingerie she got from Victoria’s Secret, causing him to let go. The guys finally fall asleep and let go, but Sheldon tries to take it and Leonard and him wrestle for it on his bed.

Sheldon receives a traffic ticket because of Penny, causing him to miss his chance of meeting comic book legend, Stan Lee. Because they had run a red light in her car when taking her to the hospital in The Adhesive Duck Deficiency from a previous episode. Sheldon insults the judge and gets put in jail until he apologizes, thus missing the comic book store signing. Howard and Leonard get the comic books signed ‘to my friend’. A while later, Penny gets Mr Lee’s address from Stuart, and Sheldon and her turn up without any notice. Sheldon gets an ‘autographed’ restraining order, and hangs it up together with one from Leonard Nimoy.

Leonard gets a chance to go to Switzerland and bring one guest with him to see CERN’s Large Hadron Collider. Sheldon assumes he will be chosen, but Leonard chooses to invite Penny instead, as the event falls on Valentine’s Day. Sheldon tries to make Leonard change his mind, but he is adamant. The night before the trip, Penny falls ill, thus Sheldon accompanies Leonard. But Sheldon falls ill as well, and Raj goes with Leonard, only to find a hotel room with roses, chocolates and champagne.
