Madonna hurt in horse-riding incident

The super iconic performer Madonna was reported to have been involved in a horse riding incident on Saturday while riding in the New York Hamptons. She was visiting friends on Eastern Long Island for the weekend. The singer, 50, who suffered “minor injuries and bruises”  had already been released from Southampton Hospital the same evening. Doctors are however still conducting test and keeping her under close watch.

Her publicist, Liz Rosenberg, told reporters that the horse that Madonna was riding was spooked and Madonna was thrown off when paparazzi jumped out of the bushes to snap her pictures.

Horse-riding incident is nothing new for Madonna. The singer had once before, while at Ashcombe, her country estate outside London, cracked three ribs and broke her collarbone and her hand in a similar incident.

Madonna has also recently been in the headlines when her adoption petition case for 3-year-old Malawian girl, Chifundo “Mercy” James was rejected by a Malawian judge.  Judge Chombo cited residency issue as the main reason and was worried that if such an adoption was approved, it would opened up to child trafficking in the country. Madonna, who Mercy has already started calling Mummy,  remains hopeful although no appeal date has been set up yet. She also has the backing of the Malawi Human Rights Commission who was equally surprised at Judge Chombo ruling. Her lawyer Alan Chinula says, “We believe the honorable judge erred in her ruling because we believe the rights of the child were not fully considered.”

Madonna has a daughter, Lourdes, 13, and son, Rocco, 8,  with ex-husband, British film director Guy Ritchie. She also has an adopted son, David, 3, also from Malawi and whose adoption was approved by a different Malawian judge in 2008.
