A comedy about working life, The Office brings out the humour in the hum drum of office hours in Dunder Mifflin, the Pennsylvania branch of a paper supply company in Scranton. The staff in Dunder have approved of being followed by camera crew day and night, and none is happier than their boss, Michael Scott (Steve Carell), the jovial documentary spokesperson.

The Office lights up with varied characters. Tolerated only because their paychecks are signed by him, Michael Scott believes he is the heart of the office; a source of business know-how and a trustworthy friend. He is deluded though; his employees couldn’t feel more different. His good-natured office receptionist, Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer) bears the brunt of his inappropriate behavior. Fortunately, there is Jim Halpert, who saves her days with light-hearted conversations. Then there’s Jim, Michael’s assistant manager. (John Krasinski) A humorous guy, he has the ability to be in a better job, but is too satisfied with his colleagues and office routine to leave.
